Game of Thrones and New Years

Tonights board game is Game of Thrones. Based on George R R Martins A Song of Ice and Fire series, control a lord of the land (Stark, Lannister, etc) and attempt to claim the 7 kingdoms!

Also, we will be open New Years Eve and New Years Day our normal hours. Yes, this means that we will be open until midnight New Years Eve! Drop in and celebrate the new year with us!

I hope everyone is having a good holiday season! We will be open until midnight Christmas Eve, but closed all of Christmas day. Stop up at the store for your last minute gift ideas, or to play a game or two to escape the stress of the holiday shopping!

Bang!

Friday, the 9th, we will be playing Bang! In this card game take on the role of the sheriff, an outlaw, or the renegade in an attempt to either save or take over a small western town. Bullets fly everywhere, as each character has his own goals to accomplish during the game. Remember, the game and all expansions are 10% off that day only (25% for club card members!)

Dominion

We will be demoing the game Dominion Friday December 2nd. This is a deck building game, where everyone starts with the same cards and builds their decks from a common pool during the game in an attempt to claim the most territory. Stop up and try out the game. If you like it, Dominion and all of its expansions are 10% off this day only (25% for club card members!)

Settlers of Catan

Today, Friday the 25^th of November we will be playing Settlers of Catan. Build your small settlements up into cities, build expansive roadways, and gather the largest military to conquer the land and become the dominate civilization for the land. This game is largely combat free, work on gathering and trading resources to build your nation.

Board Game Night - Shadows over Camelot

Our board game of the night for Nov 18th will be Shadows Over Camelot.

Can King Arthur and his knights of the round table stop Morgan le Fey and Mordred from taking over Camelot? This is a cooperative game where the players work to stop evil from overrunning the lands of Camelot.

Bloodbowl Playoffs!

The final week of games in the regular season is finishing up.  My Chaos team is ranked #2 and just played the #1 team, a Nurgle Chaos team.  Unfortunately, I lost, but at least I got a skill roll out of the game. 

I'm looking forward to see who joins the two of us in the final four.  I'm pretty sure we will have a super-dangerous Skaven team in the #3 spot.  I predict that the playoffs will go unpredictably.  Considering how the dice rolls have gone so far this season, anything can happen. 

Veterans Day Celebration!

To honor our veterans, we will be having a big sale on Flames of War from Veterans Day until Pearl Harbor Day. All Flames of War will be 20% off during this time! We will also be having a Tanksgiving event Sunday, Nov 27th starting at 1:00. We will have an epic multiple tank company late war battle going on.

1. Each player may bring up to 2 companies of 2000 points each. If you only have one, bring it! The scenario will match each side company for company.
2. Each company's combat platoons must rated as tank teams.
3. A platoon must have at least half of the teams rated as tank teams.
4. Each player may bring only one infantry platoon per company and as many gun teams as are legally allowed in each company.
5. All artillery platoons may use the Across the Volga special rules located on page 225 of the main rulebook.
6. No air power! Air power will be covered by scenario rules.

We will have some extra companies available, so come on in and have fun!

Deathwatch campaign

Last night I finished up the second aventure in my Deathwatch campaign.  It was slow going at first as we are all still getting used to all the special rules used by space marines.  Last night my group discovered squad mode and used it to devastating effect. 

The final battle took place in the bowels of a refinery in the middle of a city in full revolt.  There the confronted a Broodlord some genestealers.  The battle was very tense for the players, since they were very low on wounds due to genstealers being monsters in close combat.  Fortunately, a well placed blow from a force sword, a servo arm, and a hail of bolter bullets in rapid succession smashed the Broodlord into bloody chunks. 

Next month, we'll start the next adventure, where the the Kill-Team has to save an entire world from a full-fledged Tyranid invasion.

Necrons unleashed!

Well, the long-awaited Necron codex has finally come out. I, personally, think that it looks like fun. The new Necron independent characters have a load of special abilites that range from game-changing to simply interesting.

Yes, Monoliths did lose the invulnerability granted by living metal, but they got a few new abilities that someone with a sharp eye could use to devastating effect.

There's a host of new units, including several new vehicles hosting some cool guns. There are even, believe or not, dedicated assault units. Units that don't suck totally in close combat even.

I am looking forward to seeing how this army will play on the table.

Board Game Night Every Friday

Every Friday we will demo a board game up at the store. Next Friday (Nov 11th) we will be demoing "Ticket To Ride". Build your rail empire to stretch across the United States, completing secret routes to gain bonus points, and have the longest train line for even more points! Be a true rail baron in this game. We are trying to get our Warmachine community up and running and moving some of our old stock, so we are selling everything we have in stock at an amazing 50% off! We have a large play area in the back, with terrain and tables, so feel free to come up with some friends and play a game as well.
